Coralie is looking more like a toddler everyday. Her hair is getting thicker, she's losing some of her baby fat and getting that toddler muscle build and her little feet are looking more flat than round and budgie. Her funny personality is also coming in full bloom for us all to enjoy. She's got a great sense of humor and she enjoys teasing people, especially her mommy. She's a bit of a dare devil; she likes to be tossed up or whooshed downward. She's definitely got a temper. If she can't get the toy she wants, has it taken away or is forced to do something that she doesn't like (such as a diaper change), than she is very vocal about it. When we are in public, I get looks as if I had just pinched her. Coralie can stop mid-wail when she finally gets what she wants; its hard not to laugh at her for this. In the picture above, she has gotten ahold of her lunch as I had to run to the bathroom to help Zelda get on the potty. Henri's mom, Kelli, caught her in the act, thus the sly "I just got caught gaze", and took a quick picture with her phone. As you can tell in photo, Coralie is in an independent eating phase.
Zelda is still riding the crazy roller-coaster that is potty training. She does really well some days, such as on a recent trip to Kansas City in which she had no accidents all day, even on the ride there and back, but other days she never makes it to the bathroom, such as the day after that Kansas City trip in which she had multiple accidents, one even occurred with me sitting right beside her on the bed playing a game. Conclusion, she now understands the signals, but she is experimenting with how long she can wait before she absolutely needs to get to a potty. I guess this is just one of those times in parenting when I have to just keep encouraging and trust that everything will turn out fine. I know that she will come around. The picture of her above always cracks me up and deserves a few explanations. She calls the hat she is wearing her "Woody Hat" because she loves Woody from Toy Story and it's the closest thing to a cowboy hat we have. The outfit is goofy because she's working with Ganga (this is what the grandkids call Henri's mom) in the garden. She insisted on having garden gloves also, but all we had were winter mittens. She's sitting in the climbing tree in the backyard. This is quite the exciting treat because as she is an amazing climber, she is still not quite ready for solo tree climbing.
